Preparations for the building have taken 13 years and this September Sekyra Group will start construction work. The project will include 3 200 apartments, 8 office buildings and a primary school on a 20-hectare site. Prague city will create a park and build a bridge connecting Karlín with Holešovice districts.
The head of the Sekyra Group said that the total investment in the project will exceed 18 billion Czech crowns. The emphasis will be on first-class architecture and residential buildings. The office buildings will be located on the western side of the site adjacent to the existing River Gardens complex. The design and architecture will be done by masters of their field - Eva Jiřičná, Jakub Cigler and EBM studio. Completion of the entire complex is scheduled for the year 2035.
For the convenience of the future inhabitants of Rohan island, a primary school is also planned, which will be located between the Invalidovna and Palmovka metro stations. The developer will invest over 60 million Czech crowns in its construction. On the land that will not be developed, a park and boulevard zones will be created where it will be possible to spend leisure time. There will also be a bridge leading to the Holešovice district. The municipal authorities of Prague 7 and Prague 8 are already finalising the approval of this project. We can only be happy that Rohan island will be transformed very soon and thousands of happy people will enjoy life in their new apartments.
